Sunglow Workshops offers a variety of retreats and instruction. Our workshops are hosted by experienced teachers and professionals and make use of our eco-friendly mountain resort nestled in the foothills of the beautiful Chiricahua Mountains of southeastern Arizona.
The workshops facility is located on 475 acres of wild, high-desert grasslands. At an elevation of 5,500 feet, old oak forests and stately mountain ranges surround the property, which is bordered by 300,000 acres of the Coronado National Forest. The ranch boasts nine beautifully designed private guest casitas with murals by local Tucson artist, Freia Ramsey, a charming café serving organic gourmet meals, a large studio for shooting images and for classroom work, a pool, spa and fitness room, a picturesque pond facing the backdrop of the mountains and a serene courtyard that a diverse bird population calls home.
When you are not engaged in workshop activity, we encourage our guests to take advantage of all that Sunglow has to offer. Activities include on-property wildlife hikes with our resident naturalist, exploration of the adjacent national forest on foot, horseback or mountain bike, spotting our dozens of distinctive and sometimes rare avian species, canoeing in our pond, and evening stargazing and galaxy hunting with our resident astronomer. In addition to horseback riding, we also offer guided tours to nearby attractions like the old copper mining town of Bisbee, the historic town of Tombstone and the old stomping grounds of Wyatt Earp and Geronimo. Of course if slowing down and getting back to basics is more your style, Sunglow is best known for its picturesque and peaceful setting where it is easy to find a quiet niche to savor the solitude, read, or just enjoy the company of family and friends.
Sunglow Workshops is owned and operated by Mitchel Sayare, a Boston- and Arizona-based portrait, interior and location photographer. Sayare is also the owner and operator of Sunglow Ranch.
